The beauty of Mood Boards

A mood board is a visual collage that conveys a central theme, idea or visual expression through elements like colors, images, text, photography textures and patterns. The beginning of your design process, to spark your creative process. They provide you with ideas and visual context to help guide you through your style guide and the creation of your prompt. Your Mood board should have a distinct direction and intent. Your mood board Tell the beginning of your design story.

Mood boards are a useful tool helping designers effectively collaborate with clients and team members. Boards can be easily created within a tight time frame and turn an abstract idea into a real one. This way designers can effectively share their ideas with the others because visual material always works better than fluent phrases.

  • Taking ideas from your Mood board and making those ideas and giving them more depth. They’re composed of iconography, typography, colors and other UI elements. It should tell an overall theme/mood. The style tile is sandwiched in between figuring out what your visual process is going to be like and choosing a direction to make your hi fidelity screens. Being meaningful throughout your choices and what you finally decide on. Because once you choose the theme for your prompt, you can make iterations but you should keep the original aspect and theme. I learnt the hard way, be thoughtful towards what is best for your client or project. Don’t make produce designs that are just aesthetically pleasing and what your idea of “cool” is.
Style Tile

This Mood board and style tile was created with a vision for a a theoretical responsive web-based application designed to assist after-school program administrators manage their program participants, increase engagement, and complete daily operation tasks. The education program management industry is full of native and web-based applications, some legacy and some as recent as 2015. These newer applications have leveraged a strong native mobile feel, while legacy applications maintained a rooted, though dated feel on desktop computers.
